Support for ICT Co-ordinators
Creative ICT believe
that the Support for ICT co-ordinators package offers a set of unique
benefits to both school and ICT co-ordinator. Designed not just to advise,
but to share the workload, provide focus and make real change.
This mentoring package
is delivered by an experienced ICT co-ordinator and is meant to be as
flexible as you need. In consultation with your mentor, you set the agenda,
decide priorities and set targets. A typical mentor program could include
any of the following:
- Audits and action plans
Practical, physical help with auditing your ICT resources, staff skills
and mapping your network. Set
out a fully-costed action plan with realistic targets and time scales.
- Policies and schemes of work
Helping to review, update and rewrite all relevant ICT documentation.
- Software and hardware selection
Benefit from your mentor's wide experience and knowledge to ensure your
ICT budget is spent effectively.
- Staff training
Teach staff to use specific software packages or multimedia capture devices.Learn
about teaching strategies with whiteboards.
Set up a lunchtime "drop-in" for staff to address their own needs.
- Team teaching or model lessons
Get your mentor into the classroom to work alongside staff or to
deliver a model lesson.
- Assessment
Should you be assessing skills or outcomes?
- Lesson Observation
Take advantage of the fact that your mentor has been on the OfSted school
improvement course.

Creative ICT's unique mentoring package also includes
the following:
ICT conference
-Attendance on one of Creative ICT's "How to
be a successful ICT co-ordinator" conferences plus a
choice of any other Creative ICT conference.
ICT co-ordinators forum
-Take part in the Creative ICT co-ordinator's
online forum, ask questions, share your experiences,
give your opinion.
Email and telephone advice
-Your mentor will be available for advice between
visits to your school.
Annual review
-Creative ICT will write a review of the program at the end of the year
containing agreed targets for the future.
Whichever option is taken, a free preliminary planning meeting will
take place to set priorities for the package and agree deliverables.
